About this project

The initial idea comes from the French wordplay between grenade (the weapon) and pomegranate (in French: grenade vs pommegrenade). Juxtaposing the top of a grenade with a pomegranate creates a surprising contrast through its incongruity. It immediately suggests that a choice must be made:

  • Grenade or pomegranate?

For the series, the principle is the same: pairing a military object associated with war with an object that evokes a simple, gentle, or happy life. This duality creates visual and conceptual tension that invites the viewer to take a stance:

  • Teddy bear or gas mask?
  • Missile or football?
